Group Classes:
Smart puppy

This course provides crucial socialization that every puppy needs in order to grow into a well-adjusted, happy, friendly, adult dog.

You’ll learn how to teach your puppy a host of basic behaviors including sit, down, coming when called, and paying attention to you.

Other topics include easy housetraining, how to curb puppy nipping, and puppy chewing.

This course is open only to pups that are under five months at the time the course starts. The course is seven weeks and includes both an Orientation and Graduation.

You’ll learn how to prevent problems like barking, jumping, pulling on the leash, digging, and stealing from the counters/table.

To help your puppy learn appropriate doggie social skills, they’ll have supervised playtime. We’ll also introduce your pup to friendly people during classes to teach him that people are friendly and nice.

Enrollment is limited in order to keep class sizes small -- that way you and your dog get more individual attention and learn faster. And we get to know each of you, your dog, and the specific problems you're facing.

How will it help me?

Smart Dog University can shed some light on the most common puppyhood problems:

  • chewing
  • house training
  • puppy biting
  • crate training
  • interactions with children

It's also very important that your puppy find out as much about his world as possible. There is a very short time-period in which your puppy learns about what is scary and not scary. That which your puppy is not exposed to during this window of opportunity can become a problem in the future.

Puppy class is a perfect way to expose your puppy to other friendly puppies, people, and children in a way that is relaxed, fun, and non-threatening. We build socialization exercises into every class for this very purpose. Puppy classes also have "Puppy Recess" in which the puppies are encouraged to play with one another to help develop their "doggy social skills."
