Dogs, man. You just gotta love ’em.
Believe it or not, your dog craves many of the same things you do. A warm, toasty spot to sleep. Tasty food that blesses the belly. Lots of love and paw-fives. Protection. Structure. Human connection. Touch. And the comfort of consistency—knowing he can count on the people he depends on most to always be there. I know this is what you want for him, too.
I am Laurie Luck, pooch pleaser and people teacher. I’m here to help you and your puppy live a beautiful life together. I work with puppy parents who realize that true animal care is about more than just feeding and play. Instead, they seek a deep, lasting bond with their well-behaved dogs. I know that getting to that divine place requires a partnership, so the focus of my training practice is both you and your dog. I teach you both—individually and together—how to live and love each other and create a relationship that is rooted in mutual respect and trust.
I have two foundational truths that guide my business philosophy and approach to my work.
I believe:
1. Every puppy can be smart, a great listener and fun.
2. Every parent can be smart, a great listener and fun.
Simple, right? Believe it or not, it really is. Once dogs and parents truly learn and understand each other, the rest is easy. It’s not to say there won’t be challenges along the way, but I show you how to jump those hurdles with time-tested tools and positive-training techniques that work. With me, you will learn how to solve your puppy’s problems on your own. Because you can.
And I will show you how.
I’ve been smitten with pups for as long as I can remember. My connection with dogs has always been very intuitive—my heart and gut spoke to them and they always responded in kind.
You could definitely call it puppy love.
Twenty some odd years later, I still love dogs and they love me right back. And I get to do what I love every day. Whether I am working with my personal clients at Smart Dog University or teaching at Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training & Behavior, I wake up and go to sleep with a full heart, knowing I’ve made a big difference in lives and in the world. There is a science to what I do, and that’s where my Master’s degree in Psychology comes in. Through my academic studies and professional experience in leadership and management, I’ve learned how to teach people in a way that is simple, effective and dare I say, fun. Based on my years of practice as a trainer and instructor, I’ve developed a system based in human and dog behavior, body language and bonding. So our work together will be a bit technical – and always easy.
But really—I am just passionate about all things pups.
I want every dog in a happy, healthy home. I want every person to know the joy of the unconditional love only a puppy can give. I want to show you that those seemingly big problems between you and your dog are really just little misunderstandings. The two of you just need to get on one page.
And I can help you get there easier and faster.
The clients I work with want the absolute best for their dog.
They understand that puppies have needs, too. They value education and want to invest the time to get it right. They know that dogs are family, not just pets.
Here’s a little more about what I do:
I travel the country speaking to dog owners and training professionals about how to take their dog training to the next level. I incorporate my service dog raising, training experience and formal education to present well-rounded, informative sessions filled with lots of aha-s! and takeaway nuggets that you can use with your dog right away.
I blog about the highs and lows of living with and loving a dog. My passion lies in working together with families who want their dog to be an integral part of their household and lives. I write articles to help them make it happen.
