Today's a big day here for us. A new service dog puppy's coming today! I'm pleased to be working with a new organization: Hero Dogs. Located in Brookeville, MD, this organization raises and trains dogs for military veterans who have been injured and/or disabled while
serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
This puppy marks a few firsts for me: this is the first puppy I've raised for Hero Dogs, and it's a Golden retriever. I've raised Labradors, mixed breeds, and a Great Dane, but this will be the first Golden retriever.
I'm excited to begin this new venture with Hero Dogs, but at the same time, it's just another reminder that Talos will be leaving me shortly. Stay tuned, I'll have lots more information later today about the new puppy…and about Talos' turn-in date.

Oh — there is nothing cuter than a Golden puppy. They are just lovebugs. I know you will enjoy him/her. Our golden, Chase, is now 8 years old and he is one grand gentleman. Wonderful with kids, too. Not to mention he manages to firmly dominate Sam and Daisy — not an easy task!

Hero Dogs is such a great organization. Thank you for contributing to this worthy cause. As a dog lover & an avid rescuer I follow your blog daily. Can’t wait to meet the new recruit. Also I recently fostered a Dane, the perfect Dane (in my eyes) for just 6 short weeks before he found his forever home & it nearly shattered my heart to give him up. But every time I get down I remind myself there is no telling where that beautiful dog might be had it not been for us & the same goes to Talos, you’ve given him the tools to have one of the best lives a dog can lead. He thanks you!!
I can’t imagine the new puppy being as funny as Talos, but welcome home … new baby! You have a LOT of work ahead.
