Miracles of modern technology: this blog post comes from 36,000.
I’m flying to Los Angeles, CA, to attend ClickerExpo, the animal training and behavior conference. It’s a three-day event filled with lots of foundation information for beginner trainers, as well as material that excites my inner behavior nerd. The sun, the palm trees, and the warmth also excite me. I left a snowy winter wonderland where the high was oh, 2° when I got up this morning. So yeah, there’s a little bit of excitement for walking around without a jacket!
I’m looking forward to hearing clicker training pioneer, Karen Pryor, talk about getting rid of behavior in her talk “On Extinction.”
Many dog owners focus solely on getting rid of behaviors — instead of teaching new, more appropriate ones — and Karen Pryor is an excellent speaker so that one’s a no-brainer.
Ever heard of urban mushing?
Me, neither, but there’s a session at ClickerExpo by Chris Waggoner that looks out of this world. With so many people looking for new ideas to exercise their dog, I think this is something that will show up right here on the blog! I’ll bring you all the details of this exciting and fascinating conference.
I’ll be tweeting from the conference floor, so if you don’t already, follow me on Twitter.
Check back right here for blog updates containing the latest conference ideas and news.
