My dogs love summer.
I love summer. Probably because my dogs love it.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the “dog days of summer,” but I dug a little deeper and found this quote about the origin of the phrase:
“…the ‘dog days’ are actually defined as the period from July 3 through Aug. 11 when the Dog Star, Sirius, rises in conjunction (or nearly so) with the sun.”
Here’s how we deal with those “dog days…”
Tango, making good use of the ramp from Lake Anna up to the dock.
Tango, ever the water dog, with his favorite summertime toy, the bumper.
Schoons, the non-water dog wondering what the heck those other dogs find so enjoyable out there. (But not so curious that he’s willing to go find out!)
A young Nemo, finding out just how enjoyable the water can really be!
No lake? No problem! A kiddie pool and a hose can be a mighty fine stand in!
Our little Monti, doing her best to steal away Tango’s bumper. He won that battle against the little whippersnapper.
Talk back! What do YOU and your dogs do to beat the dog days of summer?
