A funny thing just happened. I got up from my desk, went into the bathroom. All four dogs were asleep. But don't you know it, within 15 seconds, they all got up and joined me in the bathroom.
I don't require assistance in the bathroom. I don't stay in there very long. I come right back out and go right back to my desk. Nothing exciting happens. Yet, all four dogs find it necessary or enjoyable to join me.
I'm not complaining – not really. Just making an observation. On one hand it can be a little annoying. Everyone gets up from their comfortable position and joins me in a pretty small bathroom. But on the other hand, I like what that implies – that they're interested enough in me and what I'm doing to get up and move with me.
Before anyone chimes in with worries that my dogs are a little too dependent on me or wonders if they have separation anxiety, let me quell those thoughts. They're fine without me, they dance with delight as I'm walking out the door. They don't need me. But they do enjoy me.
There's no real point or lesson to this blog post. Just a stray thought that crossed my mind this morning as I chuckled when all four dogs joined me for 30 seconds in the bathroom.
Do any readers have similar experiences? I'd love to hear them.

Our cat, Storm, does this too! Just about every time my husband or I use the bathroom she follows us in and just hangs out. We’ll chat to her, ask her what she’s doing — but she just seems to want to keep tabs on what’s going on.
Love the post!!

Ah, so happy to hear someone else has this experience, too. And with a cat – even better! They’re funny, our animals. 😉

And you thought you were alone Laurie! Cody does that to my mom all the time! My dad sometimes too. Cody will also follow my sister or I to the bathroom and lay down–especially when we are in the shower!

My 2 dogs do the same thing! So funny! Love reading about the random everyday things the dogs do! I enjoy your blog and appreciate all the things I have learned since I started reading it!

When my husband brings the dogs up in the morning after they are fed and go outside, they jump on the bed. If I keep my eyes closed or pull the pillow over my head, they shove their snouts in my face until I acknowledge them. Then they stand over me until I pet them both under their ear flaps until my hands go numb. Then they sprawl on the pillows and nibble at each other and then forget I’m a human and try to nibble at me until I yell at them and they scatter onto the floor.
By the time my husband gets out of the shower, they are sprawled on the floor angelically and he always looks at me and say, “how did you get dog hair all over you??”

My two always jump up and follow me too 🙂 I always tell them I can do it myself, promise, and they usually give me a kiss and wait in the hall. When I shower I have to close the door or they will stand there licking the door until I get out. Then there is usually one lounging on the couch and the other in the hall waiting (or sleeping) Love those big babies!

Funny our Border Terrier Puppy has to follow me INTO the bathroom and SIT in front of me as if WHAT ARE YOU DOING NOW? and It is a Perfect sit the kind you would die for in a ring:-). Where as the Jack Russell she just gets up walks along to see if you are headed in the direction of the backdoor then if not goes back to her bed since you are not doing anything that interests her. The Jack Likes to be a Part of our life but on HER terms! The Border includes us in ALL parts of HER life a deffinate difference in outlook as well as day to day life.

Hunter follows me everywhere, including the bathroom. I’ve tried quietly leaving the room, so as not to wake him, never works! 🙂
