The ELISA test came back negative for any fungus in Nemo’s blood! Yay! That means that (1) his cough is not in any way related to the pythium and (2) it’s unlikely that the fungus will pop up anywhere else in his body. (The cough is long-gone now, too, thank goodness.)
This makes me crazy-happy. We’ve been so worried for so long about this dog – it’s amazing how exciting it is to have a normal, healthy dog. Who knew normal could be so exciting!
My husband and I were watching tv last night and happened upon the Agility Invitational. (Agility is the obstacle course that dogs run through – through tires, tunnels, over jumps, and other objects.) They were running the larger dogs – 24" at the shoulders, which is about Nemo’s height. There was a beautiful black Great Dane who lumbered through the course, doing just fine. Made me think I ought to sign Nemo and myself up for an Agility course for fun. He’s kind of a ‘fraidy cat, though, so I don’t know how far we’d get, especially on objects like the teeter… But it would be fun and it could help boost his confidence. We’ll see…
