We went from Spruce to Schooner late yesterday. The dog didn’t change, just his name. Turns out we were the only ones who really liked Spruce Goose.
We went from an aeronautical theme to simply a nautical theme. It has nothing to do with pilots, I realize, but hey, everyone involved agreed on Schooner, so we’re sticking with it!
The boy is settling in just fine and the name change won’t be a problem for him — we only used Spruce for a five days or so.
So while he really is Spruce-like, he’s now Schooner. I’m sure he’ll grow into his name and a year from now we won’t be able to imagine him as anything other than “Schooner.”
Instead of Spruce Goose you could’ve gone to Hercules 😉
Schooner is fun too, though!
