Dean Koontz

I’m a little crazy for Dean Koontz.

I’m a little left of center, though, and my favorite Dean Koontz books are the Odd Thomas series. Yes, he has written lots of really good, more popular books, but for some reason, those Odd Thomas books are my faves.

Ask Anna — Advice for the Furry and Lovelorn will please dog lovers young and old. It’s a beautiful, high quality book filled with cute pictures and, well, advice for dogs from a dog!

Even dogs need a Dear Abby, it seems.

And Koontz discovered that his Golden retriever, Anna, has the Dear Abby gene. Says Koontz “Golden retrievers are known for their go-along-to-get-along sweetness, but they’re also know for their intelligence…when I saw the pool guy on his knees weeping with gratitude, while with one paw Anna patted him on the should as if to say ‘There, there,’ I knew that something must be afoot.”

You won’t read this book for it’s training advice or nutritional counseling. You’ll read this book to lift your spirits, to chuckle, and to sit back and enjoy your dog a little bit more. It’s a funny book with terrific, expressive photos.

I’m thinking: great gift for the holidays!

If you have a dog lover (or an advice lover or giver), this’d be a great book. Kids will love it for the adorable photographs, adults will love it for it’s humor. Golden lovers, you’re in LUCK — Anna appears on every other page and is absolutely lovely.

Even better: all profits from the book will be given to Canine Companions of Independence, which provides assistance for people with disabilities.
