2016 has been a bust for me. Let’s spend a minute catching up on 2016.
Lots of things didn’t happen. Too many things did happen. And I’m not at all happy with the outcomes of either.
I’m a glass-half-full girl, though, so I’m optimistic about 2017.
I have plans! I have aspirations! I have two senior dogs. So much for glass-half-full, ha!
I let 2016 get away from me.
I had grand plans of writing about each of the service dogs we’d raised.
I was going to write about my training adventures with my own dogs. About the various birthdays and anniversaries, running expeditions with Schooner and Nemo, and on and on and on.
But when it came down to the actual writing, I always had “something else to do.”
So you didn’t hear about Nemo’s 11th birthday.
You didn’t hear about our crazy Turkey Trot adventure with Schooner (he and I achieved a PR [our best time ever]!).
You didn’t hear about Lily’s progression into canine cognitive dysfunction.
You know nothing about Tango’s massage and laser treatment that’s helping his severe osteoarthritis.
I neglected to tell you about Schooner’s escapade with doggie MRSA and the x-ray machine.
Or our vacation to Wyoming (and our dogs’ concurrent vacation to Lake Anna).
I kept a lot from you.
All the while, lamenting that I had nothing to write. It wasn’t intentional, the keeping it from you. It was a mental block. A time warp. A … thing and I didn’t even know it was there.
Crazy, isn’t it?
No worries. I’ve created an editorial calendar (ooh, all fancy and stuff) and I’m making the time to write in 2017.
