It wasn’t a battle, exactly, but it will leave a scar. We were sitting outside last night, by the light of the tiki torches when a dog from a farm nearby came by for a visit. (Yes, his owners let him roam. Don’t get me started…) He’s a frequent visitor and the dogs all get along so we let the little traveler in the backyard. The dogs were romping and having fun, and I even let the Old Man Lucky out to enjoy the night and our visitor. (Our yard is completely fenced; the dogs are safely enclosed.)
About 15 minutes into the fun, I catch a glimpse of Tango by the light of the tiki torch and he’s covered in blood! He wasn’t whining, I never heard a yelp, but the whole side of his head was bloody. Inside we went, where I could turn on some overhead lights and get a good look at all the blood and try to figure out just where it was all coming from.
Turns out the visiting dog must have put a tooth through Tango’s ear – there’s a 1/2 inch rip in his ear. We never heard a scuffle and not even a whimper, so we’re not sure exactly how it happened, but we’re fairly sure it was an accident. He’s fine this morning, now I just have to get all that blood washed off of him!
