I've been videotaping a lot of Caysun's training, but haven't put very much of it up. Alas, travel and business make it hard to get something edited and posted…But I've finally gotten some video of some early training.
You'll see Caysun learning to listen to what I'm saying (to my cues). Teaching a dog to listen to what you need them to do (1) saves you some time, (2) saves the dog from guessing, and (3) makes it really easy for the dog to figure out how exactly to earn the reinforcement. In plain language: it makes it easier on your dog to figure out what you want him to do!

This video was shot just on Tuesday, I think. October 18th-ish. Caysun is just about 14 weeks old. A crazy-girl! 🙂
Thanks so much for posting videos! I’m such a visual learner–they are REALLY helpful! Even though my dogs are 8 yrs old they still have things to learn and you inspire me to keep at it!
I love that expectant look after they follow the cue. Everyone should know that look from a dog.
this is really interesting we have a puppy coming in Jan, a Newf, we have another old Newf who is going to get an opportunity to re-do his obedience along with puppy, since he flunked every class, my fault for not figuring out how to handle a 180 lb “what’s in it for me dog” to begin with. He knows commands and pretty much does what he’s told except………..you know the drill…..
